Course Description

Online courses are non-refundable regardless of whether the course has been started.

The International Association of Forensic Nurses offers educational opportunities for professionals caring for victims of violence.  Some courses contain medical photographs of injuries, genital regions, and other potentially triggering topics and images. If you need assistance in processing trauma, help is available

Forensic nursing programs pride themselves on providing compassionate care to the most vulnerable patients in times of crisis. Is your program set up to provide gender-affirming healthcare to transgender or non-binary survivors of violence across their lifespan? In contrast to the general population, individuals that identify as transgender or non-binary is at heightened risk to experience sexual, physical, dating, and intimate partner violence, and experience higher exposure rates to HIV/AIDS.

Transgendered and non-binary individuals have higher levels of co-occurring concerns ranging from higher rates of mental health to decreased access to insurance and high risks of being trafficked, especially for youth. You will learn more about providing safe, gender-affirming care to survivors of violence.

We will discuss terminology, ways to make your practice more inclusive, and becoming an ally in your community. When your program is ready to provide appropriate healthcare to transgender or non-binary individuals, you contribute to improved mental and physical health outcomes for trans individuals. Your program and care will make an impact on these vulnerable patients. Join us to make sure you are contributing to positive lifelong outcomes.
