Child Physical Abuse
Course description

This 8-hour Child Physical Abuse course will assist the pediatric forensic nurse in increasing comfort and competence in providing comprehensive care for the physically abused child. Presented by advance practice providers, this course will assist the pediatric forensic nurse in identify bruising, head injury, fractures, and other injuries that should raise concern for possible physical abuse. Additionally, the course reviews physical abuse mimics that are commonly mistaken as indicators of abuse. The interactive course includes self-assessment, videos, presentations, and research articles to ensure that the learner comes away with an enhanced ability to provide trauma informed care to our youngest patients. 8 continuing education credits that can be applied to SANE-P certification renewal will be provided.

The International Association of Forensic Nurses is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
